Watch Status, Watchlist & Favorites

Norri provides three ways to track your engagement with media:

  • Watch Status — Has this item been watched?
  • Watchlist — Items you want to watch later
  • Favorites — Your permanent collection of loved content

Each feature is per-user, so every member of your household has their own personalized tracking.

Watch Status

Watch status tells you whether you’ve watched a movie or TV episode. Norri tracks this automatically based on playback progress, but you can also set it manually.

Status Indicators

StatusVisual IndicatorMeaning
UnwatchedClean posterYou haven’t watched this yet
In ProgressAmber progress bar at bottomYou started watching but didn’t finish
WatchedCheckmark in top-right cornerYou’ve completed this item

Automatic Detection

Norri automatically marks content as watched when you’ve seen most of it:

  • 90% completion — Standard threshold (same as Plex and Jellyfin)
  • 10 minutes remaining — Alternative threshold for long films with extended credits

This means you don’t have to watch through the entire credits for something to count as watched.

Manual Override

You can manually mark items as watched or unwatched:

  1. Open the movie or TV show detail page
  2. Click the eye icon in the action buttons
  3. The icon toggles between watched and unwatched states

You can also right-click (or long-press on mobile) any poster card to access the watch status toggle from the context menu.

TV Show Progress

For TV shows, watch status works at multiple levels:

Episode level:

  • Each episode tracks its own watched status
  • Progress bar shows how far you are in the current episode

Season level:

  • Shows an unwatched count badge (e.g., “3” means 3 unwatched episodes)
  • “Mark Season Watched” marks all episodes in that season

Show level:

  • Aggregates status from all episodes
  • A show is “watched” when all available episodes are complete
  • A show is “in progress” when some episodes are watched

Watchlist

The Watchlist is your personal queue of items you want to watch. Think of it as your “watch later” list.

Adding to Watchlist

  1. Open the movie or TV show detail page
  2. Click the bookmark icon in the action buttons
  3. The icon fills in to indicate the item is in your watchlist

You can also use the context menu on any poster card.

Viewing Your Watchlist

Access your watchlist from the sidebar navigation under My Lists → Watchlist. Items are sorted by when you added them, with the most recent at the top.

Auto-Remove When Watched

By default, Norri automatically removes items from your watchlist when you finish watching them. This keeps your list focused on things you haven’t seen yet.

Watchlist vs Continue Watching

These are different features:

FeaturePurposeHow Items Appear
Watchlist”I want to watch this someday”You add items manually
Continue Watching”I started this, let me resume”Appears automatically when you pause mid-watch

An item can be in both lists. For example, you might add a movie to your watchlist, start watching it (now in Continue Watching), stop at 30%, and it remains in both until you finish.

Favorites

Favorites is your permanent collection of content you love. Unlike the watchlist, favorites are never automatically removed.

Adding to Favorites

  1. Open the movie or TV show detail page
  2. Click the heart icon in the action buttons
  3. The heart fills in (red) to indicate the item is favorited

Viewing Your Favorites

Access your favorites from the sidebar navigation under My Lists → Favorites. This is your curated collection of beloved content.
